Summary

Based in New York City, the Vice President of National Online Advertising Sales will lead the New York digital sales team and their support structures to leverage the TV Network with advertising agencies, direct clients, digital partners & sponsors.

This Vice President will work to optimize revenue with synergies created with Online and TV Programming and Special Events with the TV Network’s internal TV Network and Digital Divisions in New York, Los Angeles, Chicago and Detroit.

Job Description

  • Lead, manage and coach the New York team consisting of skilled national digital advertising sales professionals, digital sales support staff and conduct sales reporting to senior management.
  • Develop regular action and performance plans with account executives to improve sales volume and profit margins.
  • Personally, manage a honed roster of key relationships with CMO level Fortune 50-5000 national advertisers and their advertising agencies.
  • Creatively conceive, plan and present opportunities for direct clients, advertising agencies, digital partners and sponsors to participate with entertainment and music tent pole events, TV Network programming specials, music, reality series, fashion,  award presentations, lifestyle, sports and news oriented offerings.
  • Mentor, train and develop the New York Digital Advertising staff to be the best they can be from a sales and business development perspective.  Lead by example in new business development, optimizing current relationships, ideation to enhance revenue and conducting polished client and agency presentations inherent to a global media and entertainment conglomerate.
  • Maintain an active pipeline of agency and brand prospects and potential clients. Be involved in all phases of the sales lifecycle including: identifying and prospecting leads; outreach; marshaling internal resources and always helping to maintain ongoing relationships.
  • Identify opportunities and close major brand advertisers. Negotiate with agencies/clients on all details of campaigns. Assist client with the formation of ad campaigns.
  • Work to build and maintain a team environment with strong morale, positive energy, and a goal-oriented culture. Foster open communication with employees, and clearly communicate the importance of the team's vision, direction, and priorities.  Consistently reward positive behavior.
  • Establish success metrics and evaluate the performance of all initiatives and programs. Plan, monitor and evaluate team performance. Facilitate and deliver appropriate business and financial reporting to internal stakeholders.
  • Build and execute the annual business plan and manage department expense budget effectively. Measure and communicate progress and performance standards.

Skills & Requirements

  • 10+ years of digital advertising/marketing sales experience – proven sales leadership experience with strong examples of personally closing large 5 and 6-figure deals
  • 5+ years’ experience building high-performance sales teams at consumer facing digital brands. Establish mission critical policy and procedure. Foster a positive and rewarding business climate which motivates team members, but holds them accountable.
  • A deep understanding of the industry’s marketing landscape.  The ability to confidently navigate video, display, programmatic, multiscreen and mobile advertising marketplaces.
  • Passionate about building the right programs for clients.
  • Exceptional agency and direct brand relationships across a breadth of categories including entertainment, auto, tech, retail, CPG, apparel, and more. Contacts with experiential agencies and event sponsorship managers are a plus.
  • Comfortable having high-level conversations with senior marketers and decision makers. Strong written and verbal presentation, communication, interpersonal, and problem-solving skills required.
  • Goal and results oriented — cool under pressure. Has a personal need to track results and progress.  Self-motivated with zero tolerance for excuses that should not exist in a multinational media and entertainment conglomerate’s sales organization.  Effective time management and negotiating skills are essential.

U.S. based global media and entertainment conglomerate seeks a Senior Online Account Executive of interactive online advertising sales for their Music and Entertainment Group.

We seek an experienced online Digital Account Executive (AE) to join the sales team in Chicago.  The primary focus of this role is to identify prospects for online ad sales, closing deals and generating revenue for this growing area of the TV Networks(s)

S/he will also work closely with the VP, Digital Ad Sales and other members of the sales team to strategize on building overall digital revenue for the network.  The Digital AE will be based in Chicago and report to the VP, Digital Ad Sales.

Job Description

  • The Digital Account Executive plays an important role within the digital sales team and is responsible for managing key relationships with agencies and clients.  S/he must be a client-focused seller who has experience in online/digital media sales. 
  • S/he will work closely with national sales personnel to create and present opportunities for cross-platform online and on-air advertising to agencies and clients.  S/he will also identify prospective advertisers to bring to the TV Networks. 
  • The Digital AE will develop, close and manage business from new and existing national accounts in the Midwest.  S/he must be able to create, develop and execute sales strategies and proposals.

The Digital Account Executive will:

Nurture and grow the network’s digital sales efforts with targeted clients.
Structure deals and develop strong business relationships.
Enhance revenue through direct sales to national advertisers and advertising agencies.
Create and/or identify convergent opportunities with advertisers that capitalize on the interactive properties and the TV Network's capacity to attract a desirable demographic based on their music, entertainment & information dominance.
Sell across all digital, music and entertainment platforms.
Create sales presentations for key, target categories and accounts.
Generate revenue that meets or exceeds budget.
Effectively collaborate with multiple departments in order to achieve network objectives and optimize revenue through strategic and creative means.
Continually identify, define, and quantify both existing and new revenue opportunities.
Prepare weekly, monthly and quarterly reports for management.
Attend weekly internal and cross-platform sales meetings.

Requirements

The Digital Account Executive will be an experienced, driven and innovative interactive sales professional. S/he will be part of a collaborative sales team helping to grow overall digital revenues.  S/he must have national interactive advertising experience and existing relationships with the agency/media buying community.  In addition, all candidates should possess the following: 

A minimum of 5+ digital sales experience managing a list of accounts.
Experience working with other media platforms synergistically (Network TV, Cable TV, Radio, and Print) and Digital is required.
Proven capacity to enhance revenue through consultative selling skills.
Strong communication skills to present to major advertising agencies and clients.
Strong relationships with agencies and clients that allow the presentation of special events, integrated advertising opportunities and digital sales opportunities.
The ability to structure deals and develop strong client relationships as part of one the nation’s leading cable networks serving a loyal and devoted audience.
Experience working as part of a sales organization and growing your own business.
Strong analytical ability for strategic sales development, including interpretation of media research and analysis for effective use as a sales tool.
Superior communications skills; the ability to keep all parties informed and aware of key issues surrounding this role. 
Ability to get along and work productively with all colleagues both in sales, marketing, research, programming and brand solutions.  
A track record of successfully increasing digital ad sales revenues.

Requirements

  • Prior digital management/supervisory experience a must
  • Min. 7-10 years of experience working in national media sales with 3-5 years of recent national interactive sales management experience
  • Experience with conceptualizing digital and integrated ideas and writing or directing proposals for major accounts.
  • A solid understanding of account planning/strategic planning in an advertising agency or digital media property.
  • Knowledge of building micro-sites, sponsorships and other advertising programs, as well as, experience with ad-serving systems (i.e. Dart, Mediavisor, etc.)
  • Extremely detailed oriented, with the ability to manage multiple projects simultaneously
  • Excellent verbal, written and presentation skills.
  • Experience working in a fast paced, constantly evolving, team environment in a large media or entertainment company.

Job Description

  • Manage national online advertising sales teams and digital sales support personnel to include: Ideation, Client & Creative Services and Digital Ad Networks sales.
  • Integrated sales with Television Network sales staff and TV Network senior management.
  • Proactively identify new clients, industry specific opportunities, vertical and agency relationships that will optimize the digital brand and digital advertising revenue.
  • Mentor, train and improve the work process, the work environment and efficacy of online sales personnel
  • Creatively develop online advertising sales programs that sales personnel can present and sell to online advertisers and digital advertising agencies.
  • Act as liaison with other internal media resources and media platforms to optimize cross-platform advertising opportunities.
  • Set budgets and sales goals for online sales staff.
  • Hire and attract talented Online Account Executives, Online Sales Managers, Online Sales Directors and support personnel to maintain continuity and professionalism of this polished sales environment.
  • Keep internal TV Networks aware of digital advertising opportunities that could benefit TV and Digital Divisions and enhance the relationships and synergies that optimize the return tent pole and special events and programming to include, music, motion picture, online and cable TV networks.
  • Attend Digital and TV Network upfronts and industry special events 
  • Set agenda for digital sales growth, maintain business plans and execute to bring plans to fruition while keeping senior management informed of tactical and strategic initiatives.
     

Requirements

  • Prior national digital / online sales management and advertising sales supervisory experience a must
  • Min. 10 years of experience working in national media sales with 3-5 years of recent national interactive / online sales management experience
  • Experience with conceptualizing digital online advertising sales and integrated sales ideas and writing or directing proposals for major national accounts and advertising agencies.
  • A solid understanding of the account planning and or strategic planning process as it takes place in an advertising agency, corporate marketing department or digital media property.
  • Knowledge of building micro-sites, sponsorships and other online advertising programs, as well as, experience with online ad-serving systems (i.e. Dart, Mediavisor, etc.)
  • Extremely detailed oriented, with the ability to manage multiple sales projects simultaneously
  • Excellent verbal, written and presentation skills.
  • Experience working in a fast paced, constantly evolving, team environment in a large media or entertainment company.
  • The ability, experience and desire to interface with top national agencies and clients on high profile national accounts.
  • BA/BS or equivalent industry experience.
